PoE2 Minion Focus Crafting (0.5.0): The Perfect Offhand Guide
Background
This craft is for minion builds that need a functional caster focus with +2 to Level of all Minion Skills, but do not want to pay for a clean finished rare with perfect Energy Shield and suffixes.
The reviewed example starts from a high-level focus, then uses cheap modifier fishing and the Soul Well-style reveal step to reach the only line that really matters. The finished item can have messy filler. If it has +2 minion skills, enough Energy Shield or resistance to equip comfortably, and full quality before listing, it has already done the budget job.
Why This Craft Matters
+2 to Level of all Minion Skills is the value line. Defensive rolls such as Energy Shield, resistances, and maximum Mana are nice, but they should not be allowed to turn this into a high-budget craft.
The useful mindset is simple: keep the base replaceable, fish for the +2 line, then stop when the item is good enough compared with trade.

Crafting Workflow
Step 1: Buy a Replaceable Focus Base
Goal: start from a focus that can carry the +2 minion skill line without paying finished-item pricing.
Look for a high-level caster focus. The reviewed example used an item level 82 base with level 80 and 115 Intelligence requirements. Do not pay extra for polished suffixes at this point. Energy Shield, Mana, and resistance lines are useful later, but the craft is about reaching the minion skill level modifier first.
Why this works: the early attempts can fail. A cheaper base lets you retry without feeling forced to rescue every bad outcome.
Step 2: Decide Whether a Fracture Is Worth It
Goal: protect a genuinely valuable line only when the cost makes sense.
If the focus already has a strong modifier you want to keep, a Fracturing Orb can be considered before you start rerolling. Do this only when the protected modifier is worth more than the orb and the remaining item can still roll into your target.
If the base is just a cheap shell, skip the fracture and keep the process simple.
Why this works: a fracture lowers the chance of losing one important line, but it does not make the +2 minion result deterministic. It is a budget choice, not a mandatory step.
Step 3: Fish for the +2 Minion Modifier
Goal: get +2 to Level of all Minion Skills.
Use Chaos Orb attempts and the Preserved rib reveal step to fish for the minion skill line. The reviewed craft shows this target as an Abyssal-style modifier, so verify the exact current English wording before publishing against a live patch.
If you only hit generic Energy Shield recharge, Mana, elemental damage, or resistance lines, keep going only while the total cost is still below the price of a finished +2 focus.
Why this works: this step narrows the item toward the one line the build needs, but the outcome is still random. Do not describe it as guaranteed.
Step 4: Stop on a Functional Result
Goal: avoid spending the budget after the item is already useful.
A good stopping point has:
+2 to Level of all Minion Skills- enough Energy Shield, resistance, or Mana to be wearable
- full quality before sale or use
If the +2 line is present and the filler is serviceable, compare the item against trade. Only continue if the next upgrade is clearly cheaper than buying a better focus.
Why this works: the +2 line carries the craft. Chasing perfect defensive rolls can quietly cost more than the finished item you were trying not to buy.

Use this craft when you want a practical +2 minion focus and are comfortable with a few failed attempts. Buy a cheap high-level focus, protect a valuable line only if the math supports it, then use Chaos-style rerolling and Soul Well reveals to fish for +2 to Level of all Minion Skills.
