This craft is for Monk builds that want a damage-first glove and are willing to accept imperfect prefixes. The target package is:
+2 to Level of all Melee SkillsArcane Surge when you deal a Critical HitCritical Damage BonusThe method is cheap because it starts from trade and uses replaceable bases. It is not a deterministic mirror-tier craft. You buy a glove that already has the hard +2 line, use Desecration with side control to fish for Arcane Surge, then only invest in prefix finishing if the suffix package is worth keeping.

+2 to Level of all Melee Skills is the reason to start the craft. Arcane Surge gives a strong utility/damage layer when your build crits often enough to trigger it, and Critical Damage Bonus is the clean third offensive line for crit Monk setups.
The expensive part is not the base glove. It is the number of failed Desecration and cleanup attempts you are willing to absorb. Stop when the offensive suffixes are good enough; forcing perfect life and defences turns this into a different craft.
| Icon | Name | Qty | Why You Need It |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() | Preserved Rib | 10+ | Desecrates rare armour. Gloves count as armour for this step. Use cheap ribs because you may need several attempts. |
![]() | Omen of Dextral Necromancy | 1 per Desecration attempt | Forces the Desecration-related result toward suffixes. This is used to fish for the Arcane Surge suffix while protecting the basic plan. |
![]() | Orb of Annulment | Optional | Cleanup tool if the item picks up a bad modifier. A raw annul can remove the good lines, so use it only when the item is cheap enough to risk. |
![]() | Omen of Light | Optional | Can constrain an Annulment toward Desecrated modifiers. This is a rescue line, not the budget default. |
![]() | Omen of Sinistral Crystallisation | 1 | Makes the next relevant Essence interaction affect prefixes. Use it before the Essence step so the suffix package stays intact. |
![]() | Essence of Hysteria | 1+ | Adds a Hysteria modifier through an Essence interaction. In the reviewed example this step was paired with prefix-side control. |
![]() | Omen of Sinistral Exaltation | Optional | Forces the next supported Exalted-style action toward prefixes. Use this only after the suffixes are worth protecting. |
![]() | Greater Exalted Orb or another supported Exalted-style orb | Optional | Used to add a prefix such as life or defences once the offensive package is already good. The Omen controls the side, not the exact modifier. |
Goal: start from the rare line instead of rolling it from nothing.
Search trade for rare gloves with +2 to Level of all Melee Skills. The example checks level 80+ bases first, but the point is price discipline: if high item level bases are overpriced, buy a cheaper one that still supports the affixes you care about.
Do not pay for perfect prefixes here. A base with bad life or mediocre defences is fine if the +2 line is cheap enough.
Why this works: the +2 melee line is the build-defining mod. Starting from it keeps the rest of the process replaceable.
Goal: add the Arcane Surge on critical hit suffix without randomly filling the wrong side.
Put Omen of Dextral Necromancy in your inventory, then use Preserved Rib on the glove through the Desecration interaction. You are looking for the suffix that gives a chance to gain Arcane Surge when you deal a Critical Hit.
If the offered or applied modifier misses, decide quickly:
Omen of Light plus Annulment only when removing a Desecrated modifier is cheaper than replacing the baseWhy this works: the Omen pushes the Desecration result toward suffixes. It does not guarantee Arcane Surge. You are narrowing the side of the item, then fishing for the right suffix.
Goal: stop treating the item like a throwaway once it has +2 melee and Arcane Surge.
A good intermediate glove has:
+2 to Level of all Melee SkillsArcane Surge when you deal a Critical HitThe reviewed example shows a 13% Arcane Surge roll. Treat the exact value as a roll, not a promise. If your roll is low but the total cost is still small, it can be worth keeping for a budget Monk.
Why this works: this is the point where the glove becomes useful. From here on, every action should either protect the suffixes or be cheap enough to fail.
Goal: improve the item without disturbing the suffix package.
Use Omen of Sinistral Crystallisation, then apply Essence of Hysteria. In the reviewed example, this step added a prefix-side improvement while the important suffixes stayed in place.
If the Essence interaction can remove or replace a valuable modifier under current rules, do not use it on an expensive base without confirming the exact wording first.
Why this works: Sinistral Crystallisation is used for prefix-side control. The control is about the affected side, not about guaranteeing a perfect prefix.
Goal: finish the offensive package without pretending the last suffix is deterministic.
The final target includes increased Critical Damage Bonus. If your bought base already has this line, the craft becomes much easier. If it does not, only chase it when there is a clean suffix opportunity and the item is still within budget.
Do not use a blind Annulment or random reroll on a glove that already has +2 melee plus Arcane Surge unless you are comfortable losing it.
Why this works: Critical Damage Bonus is valuable, but the method is budget-sensitive. The line is worth fishing for; it is not worth destroying the whole item unless you are crafting for resale or a high-budget character.
Goal: add life or defences after the offensive lines are already worth keeping.
If you want to spend more, use Omen of Sinistral Exaltation with a supported Exalted-style orb, such as a Greater Exalted Orb, to add a prefix. The reviewed final item showed strong life and defensive prefixes after this kind of finish.
Stop if you hit a useful prefix. If you miss, ask whether the item is still cheaper than buying a finished glove. The Omen controls prefix direction; it does not guarantee life, hybrid defences, or a high tier.
Why this works: this keeps the expensive finishing pressure away from suffixes. The glove is already functional before this step.
Use this craft when you want a practical Monk glove with +2 melee skills, Arcane Surge on crit, and ideally Critical Damage Bonus, but you do not want to buy a finished premium rare. The method is trade-assisted, Desecration-based, and heavily risk-managed.
The main cost is failed attempts, not a single expensive material. Buy the +2 glove cheaply, use Preserved Rib plus Omen of Dextral Necromancy to fish for Arcane Surge, then only add Hysteria or Exalted-style finishing when the suffixes are already worth protecting.
