💎 Why Farm Tecrod's Gaze?

In Path of Exile 2, specific Unique items define the meta. Tecrod's Gaze is one of them.

Its power comes from two specific corrupted implicit modifiers (as shown below):

• Gloves: "25% increased Life Cost Efficiency" (Essential for Bloodmage builds).
• Boots: "10% increased Movement Speed when on Low Life" (Essential for Lich builds).

Because of these powerful effects, the price is sky-high. In the early league, it trades for 8-10 Divines, and due to the inflation caused by Temple farming in Patch 0.4.0, the price only goes up mid-league.

This guide will show you how to target farm it efficiently.

📍 The Mechanic: Where Does It Drop?

Tecrod's Gaze is an Abyss Boss exclusive drop.

The farming loop is simple but requires RNG manipulation:

1. Run a Map.
2. Find an Abyss.
3. The Abyss must lead to an Abyssal Depths (Loading screen area).
4. Inside the Depths, you must encounter a Lich Boss.

Therefore, our strategy has two goals: Maximize the chance of spawning Abyssal Depths and Maximize the Loot dropped by the Boss.

🛠️ Strategy Part 1: Atlas Passives

You need a specific Atlas tree to make this work.

Key Node 1: Boss Consistency

• Effect: "100% increased chance for Abysses in your Maps to lead to a Boss".
• Why: This is mandatory. Without this, finding a Lich inside the Depths is too rare.

Key Node 2: Scaling Drops

• Effect: "Explicit Modifiers on your Waystones apply to Abyssal Depths in the Map area".
• Why: This allows your map quantity and rarity (and Tablet buffs) to apply to the Boss room.

📜 Strategy Part 2: Tablet Selection

We use a combination of Abyss and Overseer Tablets to juice the mechanics.

1. Abyss Precursor Tablet

• Target Mod: "Abysses in Map have 20% increased chance to lead to an Abyssal Depths".
• Goal: We need to enter the Depths as often as possible.

2. Overseer Precursor Tablet

• Target Mod: "20% increased Quantity of Items dropped by Map Bosses".
• Combo: Thanks to the Atlas Passive (Key Node 2), this "Map Boss" loot bonus applies to the Abyss Boss inside the Depths! This significantly increases the chance of the Unique dropping.

🗺️ Strategy Part 3: Map Selection (The Secret Tech)

This is the most important tip that many players miss.

You MUST run Waystones with the "Powerful Map Boss" modifier.

The Reason: "Organised Forces" There is an Atlas Passive called Organised Forces:

• Effect: "Non-Irradiated Areas with Powerful Map Bosses have +1 Level".

Why +1 Level Matters: Through extensive testing, we have found that Higher Area Level = Higher Probability of Abyssal Depths spawning. By forcing the map level +1 higher than normal, the spawn rate of the Depths increases noticeably. With this setup, you can expect an Abyssal Depth every 6 to 8 maps.
