PoE2 0.5.0 BiS Melee Amulet Crafting Guide: +4 Skills & High Defense
Background
This craft is for Monk builds that want a practical amulet with displayed +4 to Level of all Melee Skills. The route does not start from a blank base. It starts by buying a rare amulet that already has +3 to Level of all Melee Skills, then uses quality scaling to push that line to +4.
The important part is the quality type. You need attack quality on the amulet, because the melee skill level modifier has the attack tag. Essence of the Breach gives the item room to reach 40% maximum quality, then Reaver Catalyst fills that quality.
Why This Craft Matters
Finished +4 Monk amulets can be priced far above unfinished +3 bases. The spread is not guaranteed. It depends on the base price, catalyst cost, and how many finished amulets are listed.
The safe mindset is simple: make the +4 display first, then decide whether the item is already good enough. Spirit, global defences, rarity, and T1 resistance can improve the sale price, but chasing them can also eat the margin.

Crafting Workflow
Step 1: Buy the +3 Melee Amulet
Goal: start from the expensive line instead of rolling it yourself.
Search trade for a rare amulet with +3 to Level of all Melee Skills. The exact base is flexible. A Jade Amulet, Azure Amulet, Bloodstone Amulet, or another amulet base can work if the buyer can equip it.
Do not overpay for a base just because it has a high item level. The example route checks the mod pool and avoids paying extra for item levels that add unwanted high-tier clutter. The base must have the +3 melee line. Everything else is secondary.
Why this works: the craft is a flip around one line. Buying the +3 line first avoids spending a large number of attempts trying to roll it from scratch.
Step 2: Add Maximum Quality
Goal: make the amulet able to reach 40% quality.
Use Essence of the Breach to add the +20% maximum quality modifier. This is the part that lets the amulet go beyond normal quality.
If this step removes or blocks a valuable modifier, compare the item against a fresh +3 base before continuing. The +3 melee line is the only line you cannot casually lose.
Why this works: 20% quality is not enough for the +3 line to become +4. You need the extra maximum quality first.
Step 3: Apply Reaver Catalysts
Goal: reach 40% attack quality.
Use Reaver Catalyst until the amulet has 40% attack quality. Then check the item tooltip. The +3 to Level of all Melee Skills line should display as +4.
If it does not, stop. Check that the quality type is attack quality, not caster or another quality type. Also verify current patch behavior before spending more.
Why this works: the quality scales the attack-tagged melee skill level modifier. The route depends on that scaling. It is not a random hit.
Step 4: Decide Whether to Stop
Goal: protect the margin.
At this point, the amulet already has its main sale hook:
- 40% attack quality
- displayed
+4 to Level of all Melee Skills - any useful base implicit or existing affix
If the market is thin and the finished +4 listings are expensive, this may already be enough. Do not force a luxury finish if the item is meant to be a flip.
Why this works: optional finishing can improve the item, but it also adds random failure. A clean +4 listing often sells because of the skill level line alone.
Step 5: Add Useful Suffixes Only if the Budget Allows
Goal: turn a basic +4 amulet into a stronger finished item.
Good optional suffixes include Spirit, high resistance, and global defences. You can use Omen of Dextral Exaltation to force an Exalted-style add toward suffixes, or Omen of Dextral Crystallisation with Perfect Essence of Enhancement when you want a defences-related suffix.
This is still random. The Omen controls the side of the item. It does not guarantee Spirit, T1 resistance, or a perfect global defences roll.
Why this works: Monk buyers care about the +4 line first, but strong suffixes make the item easier to price high.
Step 6: Use Desecration as a Luxury Branch
Goal: fish for extra value without pretending it is safe.
Preserved Collarbone can be used on jewellery. If you pair Desecration with Omen of Dextral Necromancy, you can push the result toward suffixes. Use this only when the item is already worth the added cost.
Keep the result if it adds a real buyer-facing stat, such as rarity, Spirit, resistance, or another build-useful suffix. If it misses, recover only when the recovery cost is lower than buying another +3 base.
Why this works: Desecration can add strong special outcomes, but it is a fishing step. Treat it as upside, not as the core craft.
Step 7: Price Against Current Trade
Goal: sell the item before the market moves.
Search for finished amulets with displayed +4 to Level of all Melee Skills, then compare suffix quality. A plain +4 amulet should not be priced like one with Spirit, global defences, and T1 resistance.
If your total spend is already close to the cheapest comparable finished item, stop crafting. The next currency click is no longer a flip. It is gambling.
Why this works: the craft makes sense only when +3 bases and quality materials are cheaper than finished +4 listings.
Summary
Use this craft when +3 to Level of all Melee Skills amulets are cheap and finished +4 Monk amulets are listed much higher. Buy the +3 base, add +20% maximum quality, apply Reaver Catalyst to reach 40% attack quality, and stop once the tooltip displays +4.
The high-end finish is optional. Spirit, global defences, rarity, and T1 resistance can raise the sale price, but Omens and Desecration only control parts of the process. They do not make the final suffixes guaranteed.
